Project: QUA-ND-O

The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, located in Braga, was founded by the governments of Portugal and Spain in accordance with the international legal framework for conducting interdisciplinary research, for the development and articulation of nanotechnology for the benefit of society. The activities developed are focused on 6 clusters: health, food, energy, environment, ICT and future emerging technologies.

The project aims to develop detection solutions based on QUAntum technology to identify, at the nano-scale of temperature and magnetic field inside cells, patterns of Neurodegenerative Diseases (ND) that may lead to new Opportunities in the search for personalized drugs. Specifically, this project seeks to analyze neuronal cell models with a pattern of neurodegenerative Parkinson's disease, enabling the achievement of an early diagnosis or understanding of the mechanisms of protein aggregation arising from the disease.

The project is funded by COMPETE2020 under SAICT - Scientific and Technological Research Support Systems, involving an eligible investment of 239 thousand euros, which resulted in a FEDER incentive of 204 thousand euros.
