CULTUral heritage in RurAL remote areas for creative tourism and sustainabilITY

CULTURALITY - CULTUral heritage in RurAL remote areas for creative tourism and sustainabilITY is an international consortium project, led by the University of Oviedo and with 12 other organizations, including the University of Aveiro, Politecnico di Torino, University of St. Andrews, and many more.

Divided into 8 Work Packages, the project's main objective is to contribute to the cultural revitalization, economic activation and sustainable development of remote rural areas.


Specific objectives:

  • Establish a collaborative network to promote cultural tourism in rural and remote areas through crafts and intangible heritage;
  • Revitalization and economic development of local ecosystems through research activities in cultural tourism linked to handicrafts;
  • Adopt digital tools and technologies as a key platform for improving productivity, visibility and impact;
  • Develop appropriate tools for stakeholder engagement and cluster actions;
  • Promote the exchange of knowledge and contribute to the creation of new capacities. P2P learning of local ecosystems as agents of change.

Started in April 2024 and expected to be completed in March 2028. As part of the HORIZON-RIA - HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions international program, the project has an investment of €2.4 million and financial support from the European Commission of €2.4 million.
